About this book
Color the hot spring towns of Japan — all sixty of them real, and none of them in our other books.
This is the detailed onsen book for adults: the steaming turquoise Yubatake of Kusatsu; the lantern-lit wooden inns of Ginzan and Kurokawa; the willow canal of Kinosaki, where the whole town is one great inn; the castle-like bathhouse of Dogo; the sand baths of Ibusuki, where the beach itself is warm; and fifty-five more — golden and silver springs, snow-country inns, gorge towns and seaside baths, from Hokkaido to Kyushu.
Written and published in Japan by a Japanese author and a Japanese company, every town appears as a two-page spread: on one side, a full-color photo guide with a short story — including what to look for while you color, from rising steam to timber lanes — and on the other, a detailed coloring page of the very same view. A guide at the front shows you how to print only the coloring pages at home and save your color ink. All scenes are healthy landscapes — towns, bathhouse buildings, steam and foot baths — with no bathing figures.
Inside you will find: • The great steam fields — Kusatsu, Noboribetsu, Beppu, Tamagawa and Unzen • Wooden inn towns — Ginzan, Shibu, Kinosaki, Kurokawa and Nyuto • Snow and mountain springs — Sukayu, Zao, Nozawa, Shinhotaka and Yuzawa • Seaside springs — Atami, Shirahama, Ibusuki, Wakura and Kaike • 60 full-color photo guides with the story of each town (90–110 words each) • None of these sixty towns appeared in our previous Japan coloring books
Sixty hot spring towns, one steaming journey through Japan.
